When I hear the word ‘smoothie’, I usually picture a juicy burger, too many sweet potato fries and a larger than life glass filled with peanut butter ice cream and- wait, that’s not a smoothie. That’s a milkshake. Right… I always get these two wrong.

Spicy apple cake
in Desserts, Taste -With September well underway, I’m slowly coming to terms with the fact that summer is gone. It took me a while. Just two weeks ago, I was still in flip flops and light summers dresses, sunglasses almost permanently on, no watch, just suncream. It feels like I’ve blinked and found myself wearing layers again and […]
Giant couscous with blueberries, hazelnuts, feta & preserved lemons
in The Others -Bursting with spring flavours, this giant couscous with blueberries, hazelnuts, feta & preserved lemons is colourful, filling and prefect for these first sunny days. I love a colourful salad all year round; come spring however, I switch from my favourite winter one, or those filled with roasted vegetables and thick dressings to something which pays […]
Beet & kumquat salad with maple & blood orange dressing
in Savoury, Taste -The prettiest beet & kumquat salad with maple & blood orange dressing, perfectly finished with delicate greens, almonds & feta. I love this salad so much! It’s filled with so many different colours and textures and hits pretty much every note: sweet and salty, lightly bitter and sweet, fresh yet filling. The beginning of it […]
Food for thought
in Food for thought, Inspiration -Food for thought: yes to eggs for dinner, mixing spices and citrus cocktails, Georgia O’Keeffe, healthy plants, berry cakes & cookies. Compared to last week, which seemed to move like a lazy, annoyed, unmotivated slug, this was a hell of a ride. It was busy and fast, with lots of ups and some downs too; rewarding […]

Carrot & mango cake with cream cheese lime frosting
in Desserts, Taste -Even though I love all desserts almost equally, I tend to play favourites: cookies are usually my go-to, followed by pies and little fruity and chocolatey bites. Cakes are not at the top of my list; I think that’s probably because they are often associated with childhood baking memories, of which I don’t have that […]
Date, almond & lime no-bake breakfast bars
in Breakfast, Taste -A couple months ago, I told you all about how breakfast is my favourite meal of the day. Seriously; I never ever skip breakfast; it doesn’t matter if it’s 6 in the morning, frantically trying to catch a flight, or hangover silly after two glasses of red wine. There has to be breakfast and it […]
Banana bread with mascarpone, maple & lime cream
in Desserts, Taste -Banana bread was one of the first successful desserts I ever made. I started off with some almost-black, sad looking bananas, some sugar, butter and flour. It was a no-brainer, really. I chopped up whatever was left from a dark chocolate bar (chocolate bars can always be found in my kitchen- black chocolate, so it’s all good, […]
