food for thought

Summer is finally making an appearance in London- albeit somehow reluctantly. I’m looking forward to things slowing down a little and to spending the weekend relaxing, catching up with friends and testing some season-appropriate recipes. Coming soon to a screen near you: a colorful bean salad, peanut butter M&M whiskey ice cream and a beet & goat cheese tart tatin.

Stay cool, stay positive, have a great weekend y’all!

Beautiful beaches shot from above, to help get us into a holiday mode.

I love reading stories about food almost as much as I love cooking and eating. This glimpse into what famous goodies and baddies liked to eat is currently at the top of my list.

Things to not do to get other things done.

I’ve never quite understood the concept of ‘clean eating’ and the term ‘wellness’ which has been thrown around almost non stop lately still leaves me baffled. This article offers a very interesting and food for thought-worthy take on both.

Selfie sticks for guns– really made me laugh.

I find these beautiful drawings of kitchens and bakers both soothing and nostalgic.

I’m kind of obsessed with these summer sandals. Yay or nay?

The definition of a summer table show stopper, two kinds of chocolate, cream, wafers and all.

hi amaryllis am becoming a regular of your friday thoughts – keep on feeding us with your latest ideas! just wanted to say thanks for sharing the brilliant article. wish there were more voices like hers out there to bring some
sense and sanity in this first-world health-obsessed clean-eating world around us 😉 really liked the WHO definition about health being a means to a happy and fulfilled life rather than it being the actual purpose –
many do forget and elevate this to some sort of religion! x

Hi, Clara! Thanks so much for your comment. I couldn’t agree more- many people seem to be worshiping on the health temple, meanwhile missing out on things that matter, like maintaining meaningful relationships, being creative- not to mention taking for granted the fact that the have unlimited (and apparently very picky) access to food. Especially the latter is not a given for many many others and it’s often on my mind when I’m writing here. Keep coming back and sharing your thoughts, I really appreciate them! xx
